On the second Saturday of most months, from 4 to 5:30 pm, Saint Louis Ki Society has a Ki class addressing special topics and training methods. The class is open to all members in the adult Aikido and the Japanese Yoga programs. One month training is required (at least 5 classes). Youth Aikido students age 12 and up with at least Yellow Belt B rank may also attend.

The classes alternate between Sokushin training, Kiatsu, Meditation practice and topics concerning the use of Ki in daily life.

Sokushin
Sokushin no Gyo helps individuals feel inspired and renewed and develops strong personal motivation. It fills the body and mind with positive Ki in a short period of time and enhances the ability to focus clearly on any task. Sokushin training consists of chanting in a series of powerful exhalations. Students sit in seiza and move slightly forward from the one point with each out breath. This class teaches how to use breathing and posture and create a strong feeling of unification and letting go. The Sokushin session itself goes continuously for fifteen to thirty minutes.

Kiatsu
Kiatsu is a massage technique for self healing. It literally means ki pressure, and is administered with light pressure of the fingertips. It was developed by Koichi Tohei Sensei and uses the principles of Mind and Body Unification in techniques that encourage the natural healing process.

Meditation
In these classes, more time is given to meditation than is available in other classes. There is usually a special emphasis to the meditation such as keeping awareness on an object, as in the “meditation & sword” class.

Ki in daily life
Discussions and practice to focus how to use the basic ki training techniques: maintain a positive attitude; manage stress; and using the experiences of daily life for ki training.
