Weekend Jo Workshops taught by Saint Louis Ki Society instructors are held three or four times a year. The classes are at our dojo, 6006 Pershing Avenue. [MapQuest]

The Jo is a short staff used in many Japanese martial arts. It is about 41/2 feet long and can just fit under the arm pit. Working with jo is a great way to feel and see your movement more clearly. Jo training develops and reveals the level of extension, balance and relaxation in movement.

These workshops are open to beginners and non-members, to SLKS members, and to SLKS Youth students age 12 and up with at least 8th Kyu B rank. The classes cover the basics of Jo (staff) and the movements of either #1 or #2 Jo form. The class size is limited to 8 students. The training is fairly vigorous at times and each student receives plenty of individual attention. The instruction is sequential, so students must attend each class. Jo are available for purchase at the dojo. Practice jo are available free for students to use during class.

The classes are usually on Friday evening, Saturday late afternoon and Sunday early afternoon. The Friday class is optional for those with previous Ki Society training in Jo.
Also note: The Friday class is part of a monthly series that is open to all adult members as well as SLKS Youth students age 12 and up with at least 8th Kyu B rank.

To register, for these workshops, sign up at the dojo, call (314) 726-5070, ext. 4 and leave a message, or e-mail register@stlki.org. If you register but cannot attend, please cancel at least 48 hours in advance so that students on the waiting list may attend. For students new to Saint Louis Ki Society, You can click HERE to download a PDF registration form. This form can be filled out on you computer and either submitted by email or printed and brought in to the class. Of course you can also come in a few minutes early and fill out the form before class.
