May 2010 Newsletter

General News
Cinco de Mayo en el Ocho de Mayo! Join in on the fundraising, dinner, party and raffle.
No need to be present for the raffle, you can buy tickets this week at the dojo or online. The event will be at the home of Mark Rubbert and Kate Theis, 6836 Plateau Ave. Weather permitting, we’ll be out on the patio. Arrive between 6 and 7 pm for drinks and appetizers. The buffet dinner will be ready by 7. The dinner is $10 and includes one raffle ticket, but you can buy more for only a $1 and increase your chance to win movie tickets, Cardinal Baseball tickets, restaurant gift certificates and more. See all of the details online at http://kiforums.stlki.org/index.php/topic,416.0.html.

Volunteers are needed for the dojo Spring Cleaning on Sunday, May 16. We will begin at noon and if enough people show up we can finish about 2 pm. You can come for a half hour or two hours, all assistance is welcome.

In April SLKS members elected 2 new and three incumbent members to our Board of Directors. New members Patricia Mayer and Tom Nishino were each elected to 2 year terms. Continuing members Rick Blanke and Alice Hall were elected to 2 tear terms. And continuing member Jason Gutenschwager was elected to a 1 year term.

At least 80 people took advantage of the early registration discount for the 2010 National Ki Aikido Seminar. The Seminar is hosted by Midland Ki Federation in Colorado. The dates are July 9 to 11 and classes will be taught by Ki Society President and Chief Instructor Shinichi Tohei Sensei. The event is at the University of Colorado–Boulder. Details are posted on the Midland Ki Federation website: www.midlandki.org. If you need more information check the MKF website. If you can’t find what you need there contact Derek Nabel at derek_nabel@yahoo.com

All SLKS and MVKS students are encouraged to attend, even beginners. Five of our students have already registered. It will be a wonderful seminar in a great summer location. You’ll also get to see some of our students take advanced Ki Tests.

Kid’s Aikido

If you are interested in having your child attend, please send an email to contact@stlki.org.
