The Training and Activities
Four Basic Principles of Ki Society teaching methods are taught and explored:
•   Keep One Point (calm centering),
•   Relax Completely (let go of unnecessary tension),
•   Keep Weight Underside (correct posture),
•   Extend Ki (be present and focused).

The emphasis in this workshop is on self-discipline, choosing to focus on the positive, and the principle that mind leads the body.
•   Ki Meditation allows time for the mind to become gradually calmer. Specifics of posture and mudra (hand position) will be taught. The ability to calmly focus the mind for a long period of time can be used for more targeted meditations. In the same way using a muscle can increase its strength, using the mind in certain ways increases those particular abilities.
•   Breathing Exercises: Calm breathing exercise is a basic meditation that focuses on a simple but precise breathing technique. Quick Breathing is a method for quickly regaining mind and body coordination under difficult circumstances.
•   Ki-Ai uses the voice and breath to sharply and clearly focus the mind. This technique will be taught in class and used in Sokushin & Senshin training.
•   Sokushin training (“training the mind through the breath”) consists of chanting in a series of forceful exhalations. This strong, rhythmic breathing, along with the insights of relaxation training, is both invigorating and peaceful. It helps develop powerful, self-directed motivation.
•   Senshin training (“training to develop a positive mind”) is the culmination of our Winter Workshop. This is cold-water training where we walk into the water, shouting Ki-Ai. In just a very few minutes in the water, students can clearly experience the effects of the techniques of relaxation, calmness and strong centered focus that are taught during the weekend. Senshin training gives you a clear and powerful experience of Mind and Body Coordination that can be recalled and drawn upon in daily life.

The Teacher for this workshop is Mark Rubbert. He is Head Instructor for Saint Louis Ki Society and has practiced Aikido and Dynamic Meditation since 1979. He has taught regularly for over twenty years. He holds the ranks of Godan (fifth degree black belt) in Aikido and Joden in Shin-Shin Toitsu Do (Dynamic Meditation). He is certified to teach by Ki Society International as an Associate Ki Lecturer.
