I have suffered as many of you have in the misunderstanding of this power. Join me on a journey to understand ki, and how it should be used, or if it should be used at all. We all have to look at what we are doing for we could change the world with it. I will ask you questions of basic things at first to make sure we are all on the same page and to see if anyone has a different way of doing the same thing also to see we are all using ki. First question is how do you acquire your ki I ask this to everyone here and please post your methods.

How do I get my Ki? Interesting question. I practice Ki Breathing and Meditation. I also extend ki as constantly as I can. I strive for a continuous interchange of Ki, but I am aware of human limitations. Frankly, I know of no other way to get Ki.
I hope some of the others reply to this, as this is a very interesting topic.

Another way to get easy ki is to control your emotions. Like when you where taking the ki test. All different emotions where going through and affecting your ki flow. Now you can also get it from greater powers like god or gods me personally Jesus is my lord and I do get power from him but even if you getting the power from a greater power that is not real. You think it is real so that changes your emotions and you get power from it. In fact I know of masters of martial arts that believe that ki is nothing but emotions and the rest of the stuff is a form of magic acts and followers of Christ don’t take magic users vary lightly. I want you to listen to some different kinds of music and use ki then tell me what kind you fine helpful if any then see what emotion it gives you and tell me if you want to get power from a greater power I could help you out with that too.

I was always under the impression that Ki itself is a part of everything. Thus making myself Ki. Undersanding that, I allowed myself to visualize my color. Basicly choosing a visual anchor to help me gather an abstract concept. I then either visualize an output of my own personal Ki, something that comes from within me. Or I "polarize" and act as if a magnet and absorb the ambiant and kenetic energy from around and within me. Either way, It has allowed me to manifest greater physical strength, and has improved my techniques.

gathering ki or raising your energy level can be the simplist of tasks depending on how you see things. Myself i draw my energy from my chakras. The way i see it the chakras are vortex's of energy and inside these vortex's are infinite spaces of ki energy and other forms of energy. As long as you believe it you can draw unlimited energy from your chakras when in the right state. If you wish me to go into greater detail then please say.

yeah that's another way i see it too!
but tell me, how much did your skill and strength improve??
tell me i'm courious!!
otherwise,m i think even another thing:
wich is that stimulation of ki isn't really usefull to the moment itself when you fight; instead, it is useful doring all your learning period: i thin it makes you learn faster, grow faster, heal faster, and the more you master it, the more you get better at ^_______^
!!
Well, to me, i dunno if it is thanks to ki, but guess it works
but, if there is a way to conentrate and power up your ki ability in the moment of need , i would be pleased to know! ^___^

As far as how it improved my physical prowess I would say quite significantly. There have been many instances within my lifetime where a need has arrived " in the moment"... Mushin... where as physical strength was required and I was able to apply my ki to help with a single act.
I think perhaps as Martial Artists we should not defign Ki as some magical power far off and away from us. Ki, or ones spirit has always been a part of ourselves connecting us to everything. I think understanding that underlining principle is what has helped me apply it. I don't think about it as something seperate from me or even seperate from my techniques. The dynamic movement of Aikido itself is an expression of ones spirit thus making the techniques Ki, within their own right because each of us do them differently from practionar to practicionar. The movement thus being an extention of ones spirit, Hence Ki.
I've used Ki to Intimidate those who I don't want around me. Heal injurys with touch. Make someone laugh until their sides hurt. I've seen and felt applications within my study where as people where moved without touch.
The applications for such things are endless and I think with the right amount of study these things are accessable to anyone who is willing to dig long enough for the understanding.
Ki is not the mastery of some outside source. But of ones self.

so using ki energy is pretty much the summoning up of one's spiritual energy? i have another question (i'm new
), would a powerful emotion such as anger cause ki energy in the body to rapidly rise? i wondered this because many instances, for various reasons, i've gotten extremely angry until i lost control and it seemed as if i was watching my body move on its own instead of controlling it. i also gained an immense amount of power and speed during this time. could lots of ki energy be the cause for this, or is this just something else?

what i do is stand on the balls of my feet, than i visualize roots coming out of my feet and going into the ground, next i visualize water being sucked up by the roots and going up my legs into a tank in my hara, i keep doing this until i visualize tank filled up with water, than finally i visualize the roots coming back up into my feet and i feel energized, that energy will be stored in me until i do a ki tech to use the energy. There thats my method hope it helped.

Another way to get easy ki is to control your emotions. Like when you where taking the ki test. All different emotions where going through and affecting your ki flow.
Do you know why young children heal incredibly fast? It is simply because they do not suffer from the mental stress conditions that adults suffer from and are EMOTIONALLY FREE!!! AND their ki can flow naturally.
Adults, due to stress and other various factors of life constantly block their natural ki/chi paths not allowing to free mobilization of ki to move through the body to do what its naturally suppose to do. Certain EMOTIONS, such as Happiness, Sadness, Love, Joy, cause adults to raise their concious level higher (also known as a deeper state of mind) which dissapates certain blockages temporarily allowing free movement of ki. During these states one may feel POWERED UP by their newly found temporary free moving ki. It is possible to realise this state of mind and body intergration willingly through meditation and letting go of desires and egos which cause stress and other mental blockages.
Ki is always with in us, its our driving force, a substance which gives us life with every breath, the water we drink and the food we eat. Our bodies are a natural container for ki, and if you wish to aqquire more ki, make the container larger by training your mind and body and by releasing the mental blockages which restrict ki flow.
A good technique that will allow a person to release mental blockages, to unify mind and body and to Aquire Ki is to practise Kohei Toichis breathing techniques and other similar meditation and breathing techniques.
(Some of the information above has been extracted from "Ki In Daily Life" by Kohei Toichi)
