Mort Melman Promoted to Yondan

CONGRATULATIONS!

Mort Melman, a long time student of Aikido and an Instructor for Saint Louis Ki Society, has been promoted to Yondan, 4th degree black belt, in the martial art of Ki-Aikido. The rank became official the first week of January in a ceremony at Ki Society Headquarters in Japan. Yondan and above Ki Aikido ranks are given through a process of personal recommendation. Saint Louis Ki Society Head Instructor, Mark Rubbert Sensei, recommended Mr. Melman to Midland Ki Federation Chief Instructor Koichi Kashiwaya. Kashiwaya Sensei recommended Mr. Melman to Ki Society Headquarters where it was accepted by Ki Society Chief Instructor Shinichi Tohei Sensei.

Mort Melman has been training in Ki Aikido since 1984 and frequently trains with leading Ki Society teachers at regional and national seminars. He has also attended World Camp at Ki Society Headquarters in Japan. Mort Sensei is an outstanding professional guitar teacher. He teaches at Milder Musical Arts in West St. Louis County, and is an adjunct professor in guitar at Meramec Community College. Mort makes liberal use of the methods and principles of Ki Society training in his approach to teaching music.
