Heck, you may not even be on a path. You may just like aikido for its own sake.
I would have to go with that approach. I don't think of aikido as the central focus in my life, nor is it the primary vehicle for self-improvement or growth as a person. That said, it
is a large influence on the rest of my life. Aikido training has always been a very successful way for me to push the boundaries of what I think I can and can't do.
It's also a very balancing and calming influence that helps me keep perspective. I once tried to explain it to someone like this: when you learn to control the immediate physical conflict and danger around you, the rest of life's social and mental pressures seem a lot less daunting.
